Creating an Encrypted Disk Image
Many of us use small, convenient USB jump drives to store files off our computer. But if such drives are lost or stolen, their contents can easily be accessed if the files in them are not secured. This short video tutorial shows you how to use a Mac OS X application called Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image, which can be saved to a jump drive or on your computer‘s hard drive. I got the instructions for how do this from Chris Seibold’s Big Book of Apple Hacks.

Thanks for the shout Bakari. For your next article I suggest explaining how you created teh screencast. I’d like to do something like that.
Hey Chris. I did the screencast using ScreenFlow. Here’s the review: http://www.applematters.com/article/screen-flow-2-advance-screecast-productions/
I’m still need lots of practice with screencasts, but I find that it’s better for me to try to do the narration after I record the tutorial. ScreenFlow allows you to add in the audio as a separate track. Doing screencasts is a serious art and skill, and it’s a lot more fun, though not always as easy, than writing an article.
