Xserve G5

Introduced: January 2004
Terminated: January 2005

The Xserve G5 brought the improvements already seen in the Power Mac G5 to the latest Xserves.  There were two configurations: a single and a dual 2.0Ghz model.  Both included FireWire 800 and USB 2.0, more RAM, faster data and memory buses.

The new Xserves were redesigned and higher performance.  There had been plans for it to have four hot swap drive bays, however there were ventilation issues that meant that the fourth drive bay space was instead used for air vents.
