I think they sold them up until about a year ago, no? I remember walking into a Best Buy and seeing a sea of ugly pcs with a Mac mini in the middle. Very weird. The problem is the sales people probably know next to nothing about the Mac platform which is why the Apple stores are so critical to Apple’s success.

I didn’t realize that it would have been so recent that Best Buy sold Macs. I live close to the BB HQ in Richfield, MN (the campus looks like two giant sand crawlers from Star Wars parked by each other).

I’ve read that the BB sales staff is getting trained by (or at) Apple.

I don’t know much about Best Buys, but according to my latest UK Mac magazine (MacFormat, May 2006 issue) Apple is setting up mini-stores inside branches of Tesco supermarkets.

Apple has made its first move into supermarkets in this country. Don’t worry, it’s not selling its own cereal. The company has struck a deal for Macs to be sold in Tesco stores all over the UK. The first Apple mini-store inside a Tesco outlet appeared in Milton Keynes at the start of the month, and there are plans to install similar facilities in over 300 venues by the end of the year.

So now you can go and buy your apples and your Apples at the same place.  wink

I have had a similar experience with Best Buy they had a Mac Mini in the counter that they had gateways on so the only way you would be able to see it is if yo tried to look for it. When I asked someone about it they were totally clueless. It was like talking to a wall.
