To anyone who caught AppleMatters live text feed during the keynote a moment ago, what are your reactions?

I’m a little disappointed that only two things were mentioned, although I suppose they are pretty major. I think at least some of us were expecting an iPod update.

To those that missed it, new PowerMac, called Mac Pro, xServer and OS X Leopard preview of 10 major additions/changes.

I’m impressed with some of the stuff they’ve got on offer for Leopard, especially Time Machine and the Spaces function, was a bit disappointed they didn’t include Yahoo/MSN etc protocols in iChat AV. I suppose this is just a .Mac service after all though.

No iPhone.

I am slightly surprised that they didn’t have a new tower design, but am pleased how they utilized the real estate of the existing enclosure. It’s quite a box. I’ll be keeping my G5 Quad tho.

Overall, not much new design-wise with the intel machines other than some improvements: built-in iSight, black MB, glossy screens, IR/FrontRow and 2x drive slots and USB/FW etc on the front of the new MPs.

OS 10.5 looks promising. Makes me wonder what they didn’t share with us…

Not surprised there wasn’t an iPod update @ Mac-focused WWDC.
Most likely between now and the next MacWorld in Jan (at the latest).

The prices were quietly reduced on the Cinema Displays too.

Yep, the 30” screen is now US$500 cheaper ... so when are you guys buying me two (plus the MacPro to plug them into)?  wink

Although, it makes you wonder if Apple are trying to get rid of old stock and then release new replacement screens (with the rumoured in-built camera and IR receiver).

The Developer Conference isn’t really the best place to launch a new iPod, iPhone, etc. Perhaps an updated iPod / iPod Video will come along in a few weeks, just in time for Christmas.

I was not really expecting a new tower for the new Power Mac (Mac Pro) because there were not many physical changes to the other Intel Macs except for the ones previously mentioned by MacNuggets but I now think that Apples choice of how to name the new Power Mac was not a great idea because now the iMac name seems out of place because it does not sport a Mac “something” name. I must say however that the preview of Leopard looks amazing especially the time machine and spaces features.
