Apparently we do not have the same Mac Beeble, I have a Core 2 Duo with 256mb vram.

Well rub it in why dontcha?

I really wasn’t trying to, I thought you had a core 2 duo. Besides, someone will always make faster, better things. BTW: Reply to this and you will enter my user rank.

Heh, this is post #1000.  smile

In actuality, if I had it to do over, I’d probably have spent $200 more and gotten the Macbook Pro instead of the iMac.  I bought the iMac because I was editing a TV show and thought the iMac would be more powerful, but I honestly think the MBP could have done just as good a job.

On the other hand, it would have also cost me $250 more for Apple Care (which I would only get a laptop) plus however much for a bigger monitor so I could use it as my workstation.

Congrats on being in the 1000 post club. Apparently we are the elite. smile I think you made a good choice with the iMac though, as long as it works for you.

It’s a great computer, no doubt.  Very fast, very compact.  Nice monitor.

My next step as far as my experiment with Vista goes will be to run a 3D game.  I think I’ll try GTA: San Andreas.  I’d install HL2 but I really despise that stupid Steam Engine DRM bullshit.

I have heard mixed results on Vista Gaming, so please tell us how it goes. I don’t really play games so this has little effect on me.

On a side note, setting the startup drive totally solved that problem I had with multiple drives hooked up.  Thanks, BB!

I have my startup drive set to the Zip drive (just in case the hard drive dies), but occasionally I have a bootable Zip disk in there when I restart and then wonder why it’s taking so long to boot.  grin

Parallels is great and getting better all the time, but it’s all moot until they fully support 3d gfx cards.

A little update.  Vista apparently does not support the internal iMac speakers.  The external speaker jack WAS working but doesn’t seem to be anymore.  Weird.  Might be something I changed; not sure.
