Hey Peeps

I put this question in this section cause I really want to get a gamers opinion.

I was hoping to get the 20” with 256 VRam but unfortunately, it’s not an option in Taiwan at the moment.  How does the 128MB card hold up to games like Far Cry etc.  ALso would a 17” iMac with a bit extra ram be beefy enough to get good graphics and playability on some of the more challenging games?  Do the extra GHz on the 20” make a significant difference to the overall speed and quality of these games.  I’ve looked for alot of stuff about this but no really specific answeres to the 2 machines in my question.

Thx Peeps

The Intel grapics card that the 17 inch iMac comes with is total junk. For serious gamig you are definitely going to need the ATI card in the 20 inch iMac. And as for the RAM, it will help performance but it will not make up for the fact that the Intel graphics card is total junk.

Thanks for your response haye321. I was always planning on getting the ATI X1600, it was just a case of the 17” vs the 20”.  I was wondering more along the lines of whether the 256MB Vram option was neccessary to game on compared to the 128MB card that comes standard on both machines.  SInce I can’t get the 256 MB card in Taiwan yet, I wanted to know if it was really worth the wait untill it is available here, or whether I should just go ahead and get the 128MB iMac.  AND if I did resign myself to the 128MB card would the proccessor speed difference between the 20” and the 17” make a noticeable difference to how well the video card performed.

Cheers mate!
