Gosh, who’d have thought that they’d remake adverts for different countries?  That’s just amazing!

Ok, /sarcasm.

I’m a brit, and I love the UK mac ads. Mitchell and Webb are hilarious anyway, but they are bloody genius in the Mac ads.  The Japanese ones are cool too, and I think that they have more depth to the because of the different levels of formality used by Mac and PC.  It’s like PC says “Konnichiwa, pasokon desu” and Mac says “Domo, Mac desu” It’s like one is saying “Good day to you sir, I am A Personal Computer” and the other is “Hey, I’m a Mac.”. So I’ve massively simplififed that, but wahtever....

Maybe it’s because I’m English, but the US ads never quite clicked with me.  My favourite UK one is the pie chart holiday one, mainly for the use of the word Tomfoolery which should so re-enter general usage.  My favourite Japanese one is the Virus one.  You don’t even have to speak the language to be rolling on the floor weeing yourself in fits of giggles.

This is natural. There’s big dependence between ads and linguistic system. Every language has it’s own system of values, it is called linguopsychology
