I’ve got an iMac G5 (ALS) and it’s got a few fingerprints and minor smudges that seem to be apparent from time to time and I’ve been wanting to clean the screen off but been afriad of damaging the screen. Does anyone have any good tips to cleaning a screen… leaving a “streak-free shine”

I use rubbing alchohol on a cotton ball, and it seems to work fine. grin

Do NOT use glass cleaner and do NOT press too hard.

Apple’s webstore sells a couple of products for cleaning LCD screens, iKlear is one of them. Any LCD screen cleaner should be OK.

Another hint: Don’t keep putting your sticky fingers on the screen.  wink

I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro screen. Would you use anything different for that or would you do the same as for an iMac.

Is there anything else that anyone would recommend?  I’m not paying £17 for TFT cleaner (Apple UK store) when I can get it from my local computer store for £5.  My only question is what requirements should the cleaner have?  Alcohol free?

I actually bought iKlear and it may be expensive but it works very well on my Mac Book Pro.

On the box it says that it will work on any LCD screen including iMacs so I would recomend getting it.

hummm, prevention seems to be the most effective thing to do first, so I use my PB 12” with one of those geeky keyboardcoversfrom iskin as well as with the window cleaning cloth to go in between before I close the book…

to clean the screen I use aforementioned window cleaning cloth made wet and then wringed out completely until there’s no water dripping from it- does the job… come to think of it, same technique works great for windows as well <hehehe>

while your are clean your screen ,don’t press it too hard,
or take a some cotton and use that for cleaning purpose.
