Do NOT use glass cleaner and do NOT press too hard.
Apple’s webstore sells a couple of products for cleaning LCD screens, iKlear is one of them. Any LCD screen cleaner should be OK.
Another hint: Don’t keep putting your sticky fingers on the screen. 
I actually bought iKlear and it may be expensive but it works very well on my Mac Book Pro.

I’ve got an iMac G5 (ALS) and it’s got a few fingerprints and minor smudges that seem to be apparent from time to time and I’ve been wanting to clean the screen off but been afriad of damaging the screen. Does anyone have any good tips to cleaning a screen… leaving a “streak-free shine”

On the box it says that it will work on any LCD screen including iMacs so I would recomend getting it.
