I just got a 320 GB Western Digital HDD and put it in a Metal Gear Box. It works amazing.
Best Firewire Hard Drive??

Link for a Metal Gear Box? What is it? What’s so good about it? |

I was just doing some research about it and found some pretty negative stuff (comments below review). (http://www.techimo.com/articles/i82.html). I’m leaning against it now. Back to the drawing board!

So it’s just an enclosure. Oh, and what’s the last word? “Good media relations”, seems to be an allusion to having gotten the enclosure for free. Sweet. Looks pretty normal, 50 seems steep. |

I’ve actually seen it for as low as $33 on other shopping sites. Looking at OWC, they had enclosures for $70-80!
Did you notice the manufacturer was on the comments list, but seemed to disappear when the negative posts started… So, would you buy it?? (Looks like a gamble to me) An enclosure shouldn’t give a hard drive so much trouble IMHO. |

I really never considered it a chancy piece of hardware. I just seems like a power supply, IDE interface and a bridge. If there’s a lot of bad comments then don’t bother I guess |

I read a bunch of the comments now, they were really slagged. Donn’t buy a product you need drivers for, especially for a Mac! But who knows, maybe Macs don’t get the same problems, totally not worth the risk. |
