Quadra 950 - PC Networking

Hi all,

I have an old Mac Quadra 950 from which I need to get out about 85 MB of data to my PC.

I have been trying to network the Quadra to an XP box to transfer the data and have yet not been able to do this.

How I connected the two boxes:
The Quadra has built in ethernet (AUI15 or something like that). I connect a cable which changes the AUI15 to BNC (I think this is a transceiver of some sort?). I then use a BNC to RJ45 adapter to link to the XP box (I’ve tried both a x-over and straight cable just in case).

On the Quadra, I start up etherTalk and use Open Transport 1.1 TCP/IP as opposed to MacTCP.

I have both the Quadra TCP/IP settings and XP TCP/IP settings to be on the same subnet.

I then use MacTCPWatcher to ping the XP box. Even though the XP NIC leds show activity, the XP box fails to recognize the packets…

I get the same result if I ping the Quadra from the XP box, although there are no leds on the quadra to see if there is even any activity. I run MacTCPMonitor but it doesn’t show any activity either…

Has anyone done this before? I am not familiar with Macs. Specially old ones. So I don’t know what the problem could be… TCP/IP protocols, physical connectivity, etc…

If anyone can help in any way, then that would be great!!!

PS: If the above is not possible… could I just mount the Mac SCSI disk on a linux box and transfer data that way???

Regards,

CM.
