I often wonder this. Would the world be more efficient and more creative if everyone used Macs or does it matter? Chime in with you answers and explanations.

Overall, I think that it would run more effecient. But it may take away the variety of creation that people have. I think that people create differently on different systems. I wouldn’t want to deprive ourselves of that.
The IT world would certainly be a different place.

One would have to establish first that Macs make users more efficient and creative. And I don’t think that’s the case. So no, I don’t think that a Mac monopoly would make the world any better than a Microsoft one.

With the threat of viruses and other crap gone, the computing experience would feel better,… oh wait I already own a Mac! I already live in that world and it is a better place!

If Macs were the norm, viruses would be developed for them. Macs are safer because infecting them wont make a big enough impact.
At least that was always what i’ve been told.

If Macs were the norm then things would more than likely stay fairly the same… but with a few differences....
am I being vague enough?

One of the biggest proliferators of viruses and spyware is USER ignorance and error. There is 0% chance of that factor going away even under a Mac monopoly.

Fair enough, Beeblebox, but answer the question, I’d love to hear your input. Would the world be a matter place if everyone used Macs? Would people be more productive, more creative, happier?

I answered in my previous post. No, in the sense that it has not been definitively established that Macs make users more efficient or creative (or passive, peaceful, happier, productive, etc), I don’t think that a Mac monopoly would be noticeably different from a Windows one.

Maybe for everyone else, but not for me. Who would I have then to feel superior to because of my enlightened choice of computers?

Hadley you must know that Beeblebrox has drawn a line in the sand that he will not cross, because beyond that is Mac Zealot territory, we all know that his crappy experience with a lemon G3 has created the curmudgeonly attitude that permeates all his posts.

Can I just ask Beeblebrox why he continues to come to the forums and Apple Matters if he seems to love Windows so much?
