James R. Stoup - Oct 04, 2005 02:37pm The contest currently being held has generated quite a response here at AM. Membership is up, forum post are up, traffic is way up and things are going well for the most part. But perhaps some of us are looking ahead to when this contest ends and thinking “what next?”
Well, to help answer that question I want to hear some feedback on what everyone would like to see in a contest, assuming that we were to do this again. So, here are three simple questions that need answers:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What type of contest do you want to see next?
2. What type of prize do you want offered?
3. Should we have one big winner or several smaller winners?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are my answers:
1. A contest to see which post receives the most replies.
2. Mac Software, specifically several Mac games.
3. I think we should go with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place system where the 1st place winner gets the main software title, the 2nd place winnner gets a less expensive software package and the 3rd place winner gets an iTunes gift card.
So, please tell me how we can make these contests better.
i think that the following will work:
1. another forum contest so that everyone here has chances to win.
2. How about some various small prizes, ie 5 or 6 AirportExpress.
3. And, why not make the taxes and shipping for free?

How about 3 ipods instead, who doesn’t want a new video ipod.

What? You didn’t use Napster? Why, thats just plain un-American.
I never used Napster ... but then I’m not American.
I also have no interest in music. I only have the radio in the car and it’s only really on to squash the traffic noise.
After checking with the AppleMatters accountant I’ve decided to revise my “win a car” idea. Now I suggest you give away a rust-ridden 1980’s Honda Civic which has failed it’s road worthiness test and have a whino in the back seat who can whistle.

iPod accessories? Or a package of them, I’ll bet 90% of the readers have one. Or an iPod+accessories?

Drawings of Steve Jobs? Best drawing gets a gold star? I’m serious! Though the prize might stand to be better.

Not a bad idea, but some of us suck at drawing, and don’t want a star.

I have to stress that it should have nothing to do with the forum.

If Hadley really wants the forum to gain popularity, he could give out 4 ibook G3 clamshells, I would type 200 posts a day for one of those.

You mean you don’t already?
And why would you want an iBook G3, when you could get a much nicer, speedier iBook G4? The old G3s are UGLY. And HUGE!

No need to get angry, but I don’t think Hadley can afford to give out 4 new ibooks
