That would be truly useful. No more xBox… mostly.

but the streamed tv quality would be awful. think of showing 320x240 mpeg4 movies in a normal 21” inches TV, you could tell the oversized pixels from five feet away.

Why do you think it would be 320x240?

cos that’s the resolution of the material aviable via iTunes for the new iPod. I say 320x240 cos i like to exagerate some times. video airport express would be great if it were possible to plug an iSight to the usb port on the Airport and stream the video to mac.

I read a review saying it was just about the same, but regular TV is ~580 width or something. Maybe the next version will have better support for larger resolutions.

That would be feasable w/the new wireless “n” standard getting approved. I’d upgrade my current AirPort extreme/AirPort Express for that.

When is n coming out? That’d be nice if it did, not sure I’d buy an Apple routher though, I like my WRT54G.

NTSC tv format has 525 lines vertical, which can be translated to 525 pixels.

Vertical? So what’s the width? I thought the equiv was somewhat close (but smaller) than 640-480. Or do you mean “vertical lines”?

You have too keep in mind that the lines of resolution for tvs is misleading. 520 lines refers to the numer of lines you can see if it is a black and white test pattern. Color resolution is mych less. 320x240isn’t great but it certainly is not unwatchable

I’ve watched decent DVD rips (~700mb) on my xbox (via s-video). Noticable, but not unwatchable -> but better than 320x240

i mean vertical lines, a line is formed by an horizontal line of pixels, so it’ll be 525 pixels.

Okay, so I was right. That’s a significant reduction (320->525), lame!

Well, then rip your videos at a higher resolution.
