The rumor I am hoping is true is that Apple is working on a Tablet or Hybrid PDA. This would be great. Tablets are a great idea. Apple can push them to their full potential.

I think a tablet would be great if designed by Apple.  PDA, I’m not sure as I already use and Ipaq and find that I do not use it that often.

I would love a PDA, but probably wouldn’t want a tablet.

And get rid of the referral links...that sure does bring down a person’s credibility in forums.

I am a graphic artist and I think if Apple did the Tablet, IT would work better then a Wacom board.

The referral is suppose to be part of my Signature. There is a whole section of referrels here so I don’t think it is a big deal. If I get something out of it so can the next guy.  Smile, we are surrounded by ads. Mine is much more sutle.

I guess it’s not so bad as a signature. It just bothers me when it is in the actual post because it seems to take away from the matter.

I kinda screwed it up at first and it did seem to be part of the message..

I’m just a poor student trying to get a cool toy. I like this forum though. I thinkit will be a good one to write in. 

What does everyone else wish Apple would make? Obviously I want a tablet, I would love a video Ipod. holographic Displays would be cool. IT’s coming believe me.

Gorillaz are going on tour in 2007 and are going to be 3 imensional Holograms. That is just too cool.

I don’t think Apple will make a tablet or a new PDA.  PDA’s are dying. They’re often more of a feature existing in something else than an actual product (i.e. SmartPhones).  And tablets just never took off.  Yeah, Apple would do it better, but the tablet is still not ready for mass consumption.

That would be AWESOME! please release it soon, cos i will have to buy the Toshie if you don’t! If they released one, i hope it would be 12”. No bigger, no smaller. A high res. screen and an optical drive = perfection.

Yeah that sounds pretty good.
My only thing is it would need to be pretty sensitivy for drawing. I think that it would be pretty easy to accomplish though.

I can’t wait for digital paper and digital COLOR ink displays. If that could make that into a highly toch sensitivy media it would be amazing. That would be like just drawing on a piece of paper.

Apple has got the patent for a tablet device based on Apple tech, so that’s probably more likely than a PDA.

That’s what I was thinking too. I hope so. None of the Tablets that are out are worth a crap.

Yeah maybe PDA’s are dead. Tablet are not catching on.

I have heard that before, but they keep trying. Eventually it will become a must have item. It just takes the right design and marketing. think of the Ipod. It was not the first HD mp3 player. It was just a good design and one help of a marketing campaign.

I think if Apple did it right, they could make a tablet that would catch on. It’d have to be attractive, sleek and totally usable. Particularly one of the flaws with current tablets is the terrible handwriting detection algorythms. If Apple did it right, and made it rugged and reliable, then they may have a hit.

I just bought an old apple Newton 120 this weekend. I was showing it to my daughter last night and the handwriting recognition is better on it then any palm or windows thing I have tried. Apple has inkwell technology that is derived from the newton. They have hired people LATELY to work with it too.

Newton 2.0 here we come.

I too am a graphic artist, and would have to agree that the tablet mac would be a dream come true. I believe that Apple is up to the task and probably is tackling it right now. slap on Illustrator CS2 and I’ll be designing my life away!

Generally I would say a tablet would be a bad idea for Apple. The market isn’t very big and Apple’s share of a not very big market would likely be two or three machines a year. But in this case I think it is a great idea. Many designers use Macs and then purchase Wacom tablets. A tablet with a sufficient size gets plenty pricey plenty quick so a tablet that doubles as an input device would be pretty nice plus since you could draw directly on the screen graphic art types would eat it up.
