So you mean to ask “WHY did you become a Mac user?”
The first time, I was authoring cross-platform Director projects and needed a Mac to write the Mac versions. It was a nightmare G3 with OS 9. After my projects were over, I stopped using it completely.
The second time, I needed a system to run Final Cut Pro so I got the Mac Mini. I’ve been MUCH happier with this sytem and I’d guess I’m with the Mac to stay, at least for the foreseeable future.

Has the mac achieved status equal to that of yourpc? Are you thinking of eventually getting a more powerful mac?

I think both systems are about the same, in terms of stability and productivity for my work. The Mac will do things my PC can’t and my PC will do things my Mac can’t.
Are you thinking of eventually getting a more powerful mac?
I’m sure at some point. But I won’t get another Mac until the Intels come out or I come into a huge amount of money.

Beeb, you know that when the intel macs come out, they will have an advantage over your pc.

At college, they were basically the only computers in the Journalism/Mass Comm. school. Then my 1st job out of school, worked on Macs (newspaper ad composing) and have ever since. Became a Mac Addict over the past 5 years and bought my own home Mac a year and half ago and have never looked back. (Couldn’t imagine working on PCs!)

The mac can run windows apps(using a virtual machine), but the pc cannot run mac apps.

The Mac can do that now with Virtual PC. But I’m about as likely to run my PC software on an emulator on the Mac as you are to run your Mac software on an emulator on the PC (which do exist, btw). Emulators suck. I use a lot of professional end software and it just wouldn’t work. I’d rather have a PC.

But, with Virtual PC, the performance is terrible, on a true virtual machine performance will be much better, good enough for you to use a lot of professional end software. Emulators suck, but there are 2 things to remember.
1 Virtual machines are not emulators.
2 Wine is not an emulator.

I was introduced to it by a guy who lived across the street. He let me play the origianl dark tower on it. I was an amiga user at the time. Ama=iga games were better, but the overall feel was much better. I think it was a mac se/30 or something.
