I didn’t see any dates but I didn’t look around too much. I had seen a couple of things from phillips on what they call Ambilight TV. I thought it was cool but didn’t really catch my interest mostly because I rarely watch television. When I saw the ambx thing this morning it occurred to me that wasn’t too much of a reach beyond the ambilight. I am just wondering how much the whole set up will set you back. There have been attempts in this direction before that did not catch on for a lot of reasons. I hope this has a high cool factor and catches on because I am ready for something different.

I saw a reeeeeeally lame print ad for the Ambilight the other day. It would hold slight interest for me if I watched more television and if my Fm. Rm. had more of a wall behind the TV other than windows. I can see it being utilized in a tricked out movie/gaming room tho.

If you are a huge home theatre person like me, the Ambilight from Philips will wow you. It truly changes the movie watching experience. I was fortunate enough to see a demo at the local Cambridge Soundworks the other day.

I relate it to the difference of looking at a painting in a gallery versus looking at one in a book. The colors look richer and the screen is framed better. Definitely rocks. Now if only it was a tad cheaper…

It’ll be cheaper ... just before the next big toy to replace it is announced.  wink
