Today me and my roomate went in to a Safeway in Boulder Colorado and were supised to see an iPod Vending Machine.  First I noticed an LCD featuring an iPod ad and thought that was cool but then I realized the LCD was on an actual iPod vending machine… way awsome!!!  It made me want to swipe my debit card right then and purchase a 60GB video just so I could tell everyone I dropped $400 dollars in a vending machine.  Good thing I woke back up to reality and realized I have a car payment due. grin

They’ve had them in Japan for a while (they have vending machines selling all sorts of stuff), but I think that’s the first one I’ve heard of outside Asia.

Yeah, the first one I saw was at the Atlanta airport. It strikes me as odd, that someone who doesn’t have an ipod already, would just decide to buy one right there. The one I saw at other accessories like FM transmitters, etc and that makes sense to me at an airport. But to drop $400? I would be interested to see how many they sell.

What happens if someone breaks in to the machine?

Sounds risky to me

Or worse, what happens when you pay the money and it gets stuck in the machine.

That’s a lot of quarters…
Do they charge a sales tax, or would the 1600 quarters cover it all?
