Ok, I am running a G4 PowerMac (Sawtooth) at 600 MHz with 3/4 of a gig of RAM and a 40 GB RAID 0 HDD. Runs like a champ too.

I’ve got a G5 running at 1.8 Ghz with 2 GBs of memory. I also use an iBook running at 1.0 Ghz with 768 Mbs of memory (wireless of course).
I have used a friends 1.42 Ghz mini fairly extensively and it is one very capable machine, worth every penny. |

Dang Chris, 2 GBs of memory? That is sweet. I spend my life on three machines. The first: Dual 2ghz G5 with 1 gig of memory at a 160 gig hard drive. This thing smokes and is great for using photoshop with. The second: My trust 12” 1ghz G4 powerbook. 512 of ram, and an 80 hard drive. This machine is my life! I wrote iPod and iTunes Hacks on it, many an Apple Matters article, quite a number of emails and iChat and even surfed the web a tad. I love the keyboard for writing, and it even survived a fall down the stairs The third: A quicksilver G4 running at 766mhz with 512 of ram. Four internal hardrives, 80gig, 80 gig, 200 gig, and 180 gig. This is my music server where all my mp3/mp4’s are kept. I love it. |

15in Aluminum 1.25GHz / 1GB RAM / 7200RPM HD / with all four rubber feet and nary a scratch. 23in Aluminum Cinema Display (which displays weird ghosting, possibly due to using it with my PB) 15in Titanium 550GHz / 1GB RAM / 5400RPM HD / with zero rubber feet, broken corner from a drop, 2 broken hinges, still works as my music server. IBM T42 1.70GHz / 512 RAM / 40GB HD / still manages to be slower than my 1.25GHz PowerBook. iPod mini / blue / new battery / the aftermarket higher capacity battery actually gets the 5 hours that was promised by Apple marketing. |

Well until last Tuesday I had a Quicksilver 2002 which originally was 933Mhz. I upgraded it with a GigaDesigns 1.8Ghz processor. It had the max of 1.5Gb of memory and a USB 2.0 card with two ports (had to have that so my iPod Shuffle would load faster) Tuesday I received my G5 2.3Ghz DP with 2Gb of memory and a 250Gb harddrive. I also got the internal modem so I can do faxes.
Peripherals that carried over from one system to the other are:
And a new copy of The Sims 2 (wouldn’t run on the G4 because the display card wasn’t good enough). Larry Spencer |

I have a feeling that mentioning The Sims 2 on there makes the rest of it seem much worse somehow....
It’s not about how much you have; it’s about how you use it. The reason I went 12” PowerBook was completely for portability. I like being able to take it anywhere, which isn’t so much an option with a 17” screen. If I run into trouble with 1.25 GB, I’ll have to consider picking up a home workstation other than the PB; for now, though, I’m happy as I’ve retired an old PC workstation in the process. |

I have a 12” 1.2GHz iBook with 512MB RAM, it’s sitting on a big lump of polystyrene with a sheet of cardboard on it to keep it cool. My 3G 15GB iPod and 512MB iPod shuffle are sitting in handmade docks made by carving bits out of the polystyrene packing inserts of the Apple wired keyboard. Got a Mighty Mouse and some 1st generation TDK nxt speakers + subwoofer. Yeah it’s pretty pov but it works and I love it |

I’m stuck on a 12” 800MHz G3 iBook, but it’s still going strong! But since my economic situation recently changed for the better, I’m planning to get a 15” Powerbook. I’ll just have to se what will happen at the Paris Expo! |

Hopefully sooner rather than later a 12” PB. I’m also revamping my home office, so I’ll post a pic up here when it’s all set up! |
