Short Answer: 5
I have three Beige boxes, a 660AV and a Mac Plus just collecting dust. Of course I have plans for all of them, just not the time.
My “in use” machines consist of:
1.25 MDD - Main machine
1.0 iBook - Main time killer
B&W;350 - Jukebox

Fortunately, I have been able to flog 4 of the Macs I have owned over the years:
520 (my first Mac)
190 (bought it used for my wife)
3400 (bought new when it was the shit!)
iBook 600 12” (was a lemon from the first day I bought it: total junk)
What have I hung on to? Well the wife has an iBook 300, I have an iMac Flat Panel 800 and PB 12"/1.5Ghz that I use regularly. Only one in the closet is a Lombard 400. Thinking of taking it out of mothballs, getting it refurbished at the Apple store and using it as my OS 9 legacy machine and selling the iMac…
Damn, that is 7 computers in 10 years…

I’ve got the old Mac notebook from the 90’s that often caught on fire in the closet somewhere. I forgot the model number but it’s a real piece of crap. Someone gave it to me a few weeks back.

I don’t have any in a closet, no matter how old the mac (preforma is
the oldest) I find something they can do. I just love em to death, can’t let
them rot in a closet!

I’ve dropped by alot of the elementary schools in my neighborhoods and offered to buy their old Macs so my stash is getting up there. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them though.

If they are new enough, give them away to switchers?

Only have the 8100 now gathering dust… it’s hooked up to a monitor still, but it doesn’t get turned on anymore… it’s just not worth it without even a decent web browser, etc.

Got not a one gathering dust. I always sell them while the value is still there but dammit I WISH I had saved everyone of them especially the 660AV. Best Mac ever!

I feel the same way. There is something about an old Mac that you feel like it’s going to be worth millions some day. I wish I had my old PowerBook 520c.

None! My old TiBook went on to my brother. I’m still emotionally attached to it, so it’s nice to have the thing so relatively close at hand. And my only other Mac, a 12” PowerBook, is still very much in active service.

OK, long answer?
About 30 Macs and other Apples reside in my collection. Really.
From an Apple II given to me by Gregory Ng for my birthday one year (thanks!) to my original Mac Plus. I went through a period of time picking up machines on eBay (nothing too expensive). Plus, whenever I hang out with friends someone always inevitably has an old mac in the basement which they give me.
My dream one day is to set up an Apple Matters museum...it is just a matter of time. In the meantime, if anyone has anything they want to contribute, or sell, let me know!

Your plans should invovle giving at least one to me so it can sit in my closet. Then my answer would be 1

Apple //c, Mac II, LC III, 7100/66, 7200/120, couple Powerbases, Beige G3, Snow iMac…
Current Macs: MDD Dual (home), 15” Powerbook (work)
