I have been using Sony EX51LP/SP in-ear buds for the past year and I find them to be great value. When they finally started to sell them in iPod (PSP?) white a few months ago I was extremely happy.
They come in a variety of other metallic colors as well (red is extremely cool), and two lengths: 50cm and 120cm.
I like them so much I just picked up a black pair to go with my Black 4GB nano.
Suave!

I agree. The white ones that came with my PSP are remarkably good. But I don’t use them for “Apple Purist” reasons.
Not that Apple owns the color white but they popularized it with personal electronics.

I’ve never tried them. For those other readers that want to see what they look like, they are here.

Did I get the right ones?

Do you think Apple will release black in-ear headphones for the new black nano?

I hope so.

have u happened to use them during exercise? my concern is that if i go for a run, just the weight of the cord will gradually tug the buds out of my ears. one solution i’ve made up is to potentially take a lapel clip from a wireless phone headset and use it to clip the cord to my collar, and hence having less cord to potentially pull on the buds. any feedback would be appreciated. smile

I have the Sony’s.  I think they sound fine, but I hate the cord design.

The design is horrible, even I could design a better cord.

Sorry, now where do I begin..... The supplied cord comes in two sections: a short Y-cord with 2 different lengths for the individual ear buds that can be used by itself, and a headphone extension cord that the smaller Y-cord into which the Y-cord can plug. The Y-cord by itself is not long enough for practical use by itself, and with the extension, the weight of the cord can tend to pull the bud with the smaller cord out of your ear. Also, after a couple of months, the cord has started to disintegrate at the earbuds. I’ve seen several other people report this as well, perhaps it is a defect?

wow, that’s a really awful design. Why the hell would they put the cords at different leght? That’s the stupidest thing ever.

Told you the design sucked. wink But I still think the worst part is the cord disintegrating.

If they’re anything like one of my sets, the buds are meant to be worn around the back of the neck and head.  That way, one cord comes right up to the ear and the other has to go around the back, which is why it’s longer.

The main benefit of the design is when you take them off temporarily, they can dangle easily around your neck.

The issue with earbuds for me is the general discomfort.  I can’t wear them for very long, and I’ve yet to find a pair that was even remotely comfortable.  I much prefer to “muff” design.

Yeah, I saw a Sony ad in a magazine and the guy in the ad was using the earphones. Now that I see it; it’s not THAT bad.
