Uh, Okay
Here’s my set up. Yep built the desk myself, yes there is a refrigerator in the thing. And yeah, it sucks. That is an xbox screen on the side. You’ll note the box of rice on the floor if you examine the pic closely. That is there from research I did for an AM article some time ago. Sad but true.

Nice setup man. I love the fridge idea. It doesn’t suck! Nice work on the desk. That’s almost exactly what I’m looking for. If Apple ever updates the PBs, I’ll finally be able to post my office setup (going to get a new desk and revamp the ol’ office/lounge as a welcome home present for my new apple smile

Yeah, although I actually don’t like that mouse very much.  It was the cheapest one they had.  Spending more seemed to go against the whole point of the Mac Mini.

I’m the opposite.  If I spend more, then I’m more inclined to get better, more expensive accessories.  But if I spend $500 for a Mac which doesn’t come with a mouse, and I have to spend another $20 for a mouse, I consider that $20 more that I paid for the Mac.  Ditto the keyboard, since I wouldn’t have had to buy these accessories for an iMac.  At some point, these expenses defeat the whole point of the Mini.

I agree. That’s like putting in-laid wood dashboards into a Geo Metro.

That depends on if it’s internal or peripherals.

Well the Mac Mini is EXTREMELY limited on internals.  I did finally upgrade my HDD and I upgraded my RAM the day I got it.  Other than replacing the combo drive with a superdrive, I’ve hit the wall for internal upgrades.

i would buy the mini mac not for the price but for size. exactly what the name implies. its mini. its not named the “inexpensive mac” or the “were trying to compete with low pc prices mac” hook that up with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or maybe even a nice wood keyboard and mouse:

its somewhat portable. its a nice size to be say like a kicthen computer.

That’s good because even at $500, it still doesn’t compete with $500 PCs.  Unless you count form factor.  And the size is okay, and I’m sure that lots of people find it an added value, but it really means nothing to me.  I have the space to put a box.  I’d get a G5 if I could afford it, but I can’t so I got a Mac Mini.  For the price, not the size.

I bought an xBox expecting to get a cheap DVD player and media player. By the end of it I had bought a new DVD drive and a new 120GB HDD , I don’t think it’s a cheap DVD player anymore.
