Is the Shuffle something you would take the time to personalize? I say anything is worth personalizing when its free.

if it’s free is obviously worthy, you can put your name or any kind of signature on if in case you lost it....
or if AM has plans of givin’ one shuffle away it’d be a nice detail saying “AppleMatters fuc*ing rock” or so....
i’d rate it 10 cos it’s freee!!

I like the idea of engraving, it gives the consumer a reason to buy from the apple store instead of elsewhere. If I were to buy a shuffle my engraving would say “Chelvis Lives!”

When did apple come out with shuffle engraving?
They come out with it when they released the nano...i won’t buy another shuffle (got a 1gb one) again...so yeah...i actually have never gotten any of my Apple products engraved...eh...i don’t like to wait the extra day, i rather go to the store and buy it! Instant gratification…

iPod shuffle engraving might be worth it, if just because the shuffle is relatively easy to lose. Print your name or address and you at least have a chance of getting it back if you lose it on the bus or the coffee shop.

Not to be a “glass is half empty” kind of guy when it comes to the good faith in people but if you lost it on the bus or coffee shop, you would never see it again. name or no name. The thief would just be concerned with how to scratch off the engraving.

It’s laser engraving, so you etch a miniscule amount of the surface off. It doesn’t have to be metal, although that’s the usual place you’d want the engraving done (presumably because it reminds people of jewelry).

i hope that apple launches iBook engreaving, i’d put my name on it for free, not like in mac etching that you have topay for it. if it’s free why not?

I’m not interested in engraving my iPod. What if I want to sell a year or so down the road? I had a hard enough time selling my last iPod without my name and phone # or e-mail written permanently across the back.

Yep. And I headed straight to the Apple store to pick up my 60 GB video iPod.
It is, btw, the first thing that I have ever personally bought from an Apple store.
