Apple Matters presents the This Day in Apple History contest sponsored by MAKE magazine the first magazine devoted to digital projects and hardware hacks.

Sign up to receive our daily history email and be entered to win. The prizes are:

First prize: A custom-engraved brand-new white 60GB 5G iPod engraved with the original Apple logo. The ipod will be laser etched by MAKE magazine’s Phillip Torrone, here is an example of past laser-etches on a powerbook. Another one will not be made.

Second prize: A used Apple Newton. Own a piece of Apple history. Note, Newton is not guaranteed to function.

Third prize: A used Apple II. Note, Apple II is not guaranteed to function.

  • The Apple Matters This Day in Apple History contest begins 9am EST January 1st, 2006.
  • Deadline for entries 12 AM March 15th, 2006.
  • This giveaway is open to U.S. and international residents.
  • Must be 18 years or older to enter.
  • Void where prohibited.
  • Apple Matters is not responsible for computer malfunctions, bugs or viruses and causes beyond our control.
  • Apple Matters has the right to terminate this giveaway at any given time without notice.
  • By submitting, you agree that all private information you submit automatically becomes the property of Apple Matters. Apple Matters will not release any personally identifiable information to any third party other than necessary to deliver the prize to winners, and the name of the winners will be used to identify the winners on AppleMatters.com.
  • Winners will be announced on applematters.com on April 2nd, 2006.

  • Indeed, it would be so great to win the iPod! What a magnificent engravement (do I say this right?)!!! It would be my first one (since I have no money).

  • There are only a very few Newtons I’d be interested in, and those are highly unlikely to be given away in a lottery. Nevertheless, which Newton are we talking about here?

  • Wow. That engraving is very impressive. I assume that the person in the design is Issac Newton. Is that correct?
