About

Apple Matters provides original commentary on topics including the impact of Apple on our culture, exclusive profiles of people in Apple’s storied history such as Herbie Hancock and Guy Kawasaki, and product reviews.  Its talented, and somewhat-eccentric, editorial team include founder/publisher and editor-in-chief, Hadley Stern, executive editor, Meiera Stern, senior writer Chris Seibold, and writers Chris Howard and James R. Stoup.

Who

Founder, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief Hadley Stern is a designer, writer, and photographer residing in Boston. He has written for WebMonkey, American Photo magazine, and O'Reilly Media, and is the author of the O’Reilly book, ‘iPod and iTunes Hacks.’ Since graduating in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design, Hadley has worked as a professional designer at Malcolm Grear Designers, Rykodisc Records, and Razorfish. He has worked on corporate identity projects, CD packages, web sites, Flash banner advertising, and a wide variety of print collateral.

Executive editor, Meiera Holz Stern, has always been a sucker for colorful graphics, so at the tender of age of 10 she was hooked for life by the Apple IIe’s rainbow cord. Other Maclights of her youth consist of using MacPaint in high school; writing college papers in a Mac lab at 3am at the University of Wisconsin, where she majored in English Lit with an emphasis in creative writing; then attending the Rhode Island School of Design where she learned all about graphic design, and where she met her future husband Hadley.

Since, RISD, she has been making space for Hadley's expanding Mac Museum. During this time she has worked as a professional designer and writer in the Boston area. Meiera has been with Apple Matters in various behind-the-scenes ways since Hadley founded it in 2002. Now she brings her love of English, graphics, and all things Apple to Apple Matters.

Chris Seibold is primarily a stay at home parent and secondarily a freelance writer. He is a proud contributor to iPod and iTunes Hacks and has written an ebook:  iMovie on the Cheap. Seriously interested in computing and particularly the Macintosh platform Chris has been using Macs since the introduction of the Mac Classic. While he has written for a variety of websites his columns can be found with regularity at AppleMatters on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hobbies include making short films and very bad woodworking.

Chris Howard brings an Australian perspective to Apple Matters. Chris was an IT Manager in the Windows world until mid-2005 when he was given a surprise reprieve. He believes his unemployment has something to do with suggesting Macs once too often. He now provides freelance IT services and consulting (a euphemism for unemployed). He dreamed for 19 years of owning a Mac, from its launch in 1984 until finally achieving that goal in 2003. His plethora of children wish he'd display that much patience with them! Sometimes he feels like he's got more kids than a rabbit on fertility drugs, but it's just that his four happen to be the most energetic kids ever born.

Since becoming a Mac owner, his creativity has blossomed, with successes in writing, music and programming to add to earlier successes as a cartoonist. Being an opinionated git, it was only a matter of time before it was foisted upon a world not ready. Thanks Apple Matters! He can also be read on his own blog, www.qwertyrash.com, discussing topics such as blogging, writing, humor and of course, technology."

By day, Devanshu Mehta is a Boston-based network research engineer. By night, he writes about the things he loves: movies at WideScreen Glory, Star Wars at Galaxy Far Away, geek stuff at Science Addiction and Apple at Apple Matters. He grew up on an Apple IIc and continues that love affair with a G4 Powerbook.

Gregory Ng, contributor, is a devotee of all things Apple and most importantly, his iPod. He’s also an advertising art director and proud father of two. (Two children. Not iPods.) Yet he still manages to find time for AppleMatters.com, where he focuses his cat-like reflexes on matters of music, culture, and customer service. Earlier quests for fame led to him to discover his alter ego: Chelvis, the Chinese Elvis. He was also DJ of a now-defunct radio show, Fresh Cuts from the Audiobarn. Easter eggs and other tantalizing delicacies can be found at http://www.GregoryNg.com
