Nice article! Many of your comments fit my situation and reasons for switching from Windows.. and from Apple.. I've been running Linux for several years and loving it. take a look at www.distrowatch.com to see some choices - if you're into experimenting. You can also get full functionality with modern software features out of an old Mac or Windows machine "too antique to use anymore" - save the environment a little.
