  • "The problems with Airport Express dont stop there." I think you mean the problem with [strong]AirStream[/strong] "Want to stream songs to multiple machines that are playing are different songs?" sure, this can't be done. But this is asking a bit much as well. I mean, how many times are you going to want to play different music in different rooms? Planning on opening a large club in your home? I think Apple looked at this caveat and said.. .oh well, its not tha big of a deal. This is just looking for things to complain about. As for the Airport Express. The real point of this is that it is a wireless-ethernet bridge. Most people use these behind their entertainment centers. I have a netgear 802.11g bridge behind mine that is hooked to a switch to allow my ps2, xbox, and tivo to be online. Apple's solution would do the same thing, but, wowzers, now i have a new wire i can connect to my stereo and play my music through it. This is a definate Plus, and thats all it is, its a plus. First and foremost this is a bridge. Which brings me to my other point, its a bridge the size of your fist. No ac adapter, no large base. This can be dropped into your laptop bag and pulled out at any time in order to make your friend's, mother's, hotel's, or client's ethernet only network into a wireless one. Sure you can do that with my bridge, but its big and bulky and i'd never think of just carrying it around in order to extend a network. But the Airport Express is totally portable. And that my friend, is bad ass.

    Airport Express Falls Short
  • Your application crashed thats it. You didn't get a system shipped with spyware and viruses already on it. You didn't get a system that was already riddled with missplaced files all over the system. It crashed. Thats it. iTunes has the same chance of crashing out of the box as it does 4 months from now. You really have no point.

Apple, Stop the Crashes Out of The Box
  • they can be that fast, just wait till iPhoto 4 and iMovie 4. I've demoed them, and WOW. This is how they should be. As for the CPU topic again, sure UI speed is important, and you dont need all that speed for that, but i'm talking about rendering. When i'm done with my iMovie and i want to share it, I want it to render to Mpeg4 ASAP the faster the better. The same goes for background encoding in iDVD. I want it to finish ASAP, and no cpu speed can be too fast for that stuff.

    Apple to Stop Making Computers
  • I agree with you Greg... Games are for loungin' on the couch, not upright in a chair! Thats why I love that all the consoles have gone online now! I love online gaming. But as you said that normal consumers don't need the G5 power. I would agree with you, ifyou were talking about Windows users. They dont need the 3ghz power. But of course their computers don't come with iMovie or iDvd. In fact they dont have much choice at all for easy to use software for editing home movies, so.... theyjust dont do it. On the Mac side though, these products ship with every computer. They are easy enough that my mother uses them, and they are targeted at normal home users. So normal users DO use them. And when it comes to video, its going to be a long time before cpu speed DOESN'T matter. Its pretty much the only thing thats pushing cpu speeds right now. That and games...

  • Slow down on producing faster processors? Yer and idiot. Faster processors give us things like faster rendering out of iMovie, or faster dvd creation from iDvd. These happen to be Apple's flagship products and are used every day by Apple users. Now on the PC side, this speed helps too, there's just no good tools to exploit it. So most users don't do any of this content creation. Speed is of the essance and was deperatly needed for Os X to even function well. Its also needed if they want to look more desirable to people contemplating a purchase from the PC side. Slow down? God I hope not.

  • How about just having the entire Beatles library on there wihtout Apple(the innovative one) making a single cent(the copper one) on them. So forever the Beatles make strait 99cents on each song purchased at the music store. This would obviously drive traffic, and hell, i bet Apple would be willing to do that anyways just for the traffic.
