A $100 Mac Laptop

by Hadley Stern Dec 02, 2005

Our good friend Phillip Torrone of Make Magazine has done it again. Nicholas Negroponte of MIT has received a lot of great attention recently for his attempt to make a $100 laptop for the developing world. The only problem is this laptop will run Linux (at least it isn’t MSFT). I mean, if you are going to go to the effort of putting a GUI interface in front of the world at least make it an Apple interface!

Phillip’s solution is to take an old Apple eMate from eBay and attach a hand crank to it. Should cost less than $100. Plus the eMate runs on the Newton OS.
