Gore pays a visit to Congress

by Todd M Long Mar 22, 2007

Up on the Hill yesterday Al Gore lit into Congress with a message that was sometimes preachy, sometimes science class, but all Al in the way that is purely Al. The Oscar-winning message is that of global warming, or climate change, and potential far reaching solutions that seemingly don’t reach far enough. Al seems always dodgy around the central concept of enacting a viable renewable energy structure within the monstrous framework of a free market economy’s vicious hunger for profit. The logic almost always terminates in a frustrating reduction of everything to the facile oxymoron of “sustainable growth”, which is impossible for life in our finite planetary container.

At one point Gore flares, “The planet has a fever”, to which an unconfirmed source purports someone yelled back “and the only prescription is more COWBELL!!” Although that is just hearsay…..

  • My favorite part was Ancient Crusty Douche Bag Inhofe (and yes that is his actual first name) getting skooled by Babs Boxer in a “you don’t make the rules no more, beeaatch” classic smackdown.

  • I heard that that was a fun little moment among many; someone needs to post a “Best of” video mix from the entire session (with a rockin’ sountrack) for all us folks to enjoy….
