MacMod.com Reveals Prizes, Annual International Mod Challenge Begins

MacMod.com launched The Great MacMod Challenge 2005 sponsored by dealmac.com today. Last year’s inaugural Challenge was received with great fanfare and was a huge success. This year, the excitement surrounding the event began building well before its official announcement. August has become Mac mod month, and over 20 retailers have come together to support the event this year, such as daily deal site dealmac.com, FastMac Performance Upgrades, Daystar Technology, and Make Magazine. More than $2,500 in prizes and awards will be given away including the prestigious “Mod of the Year” award.

This year participants will compete for a bounty of valuable prizes. The first 50 participants to enter will receive a complimentary copy of O’Reilly Media’s popular modding magazine, Make Magazine. In addition, the following prize packages will be awarded to the top 3 modders.

• 1st – Mod of the Year trophy and Mac Mini Car Kit – Apple Mac Mini, Lilliput 7” wide USB LCD touch screen, Gyration wireless slim keyboard and gyro mouse, Apple Airport Extreme card, Apple Bluetooth module – sponsored by dealmac.com.
• 2nd – Pimp My Mac - $500 shopping spree at the FastMac Performance Upgrades online store. Good on everything from processor upgrades to iPod batteries – sponsored by FastMac.
• 3rd – Apple iPod – The all-new 20GB color screen iPod – sponsored by Daystar Technology
• Certificates will also go out to winners of the “Most User Friendly,” Wackiest Mod,” “Worst of Show,” and “Most Useless Mod.”

The Great MacMod Challenge 2005 sponsored by dealmac.com is open to Mac users worldwide. Entries must be submitted on or before August 31, 2005 at 11:59 PM EST. Any mod not yet published on MacMod.com is eligible regardless of age. For more information, visit macmod.com.
