November 28, 2002: Apple Stores Hit Goal

by Chris Seibold Nov 28, 2010

Apple opened fifty retail locations in the first year of the ongoing effort. Things went well enough that the company decided to double the number of Apple retail stores by the end of the second year.

That goal was met when Apple opened its fiftieth store in Emeryville, California. The locations of the stores were strategically chosen and Apple boasted that 85 million people lived within fifteen minutes of a retail store.

Apple hit its goal and an ever-increasing number of Americans had access to an Apple store this week in 2002.
