OS X Security Update Released (and installed)

by Chris Seibold Sep 23, 2005

Straight from the “I did it first so you wouldn’t have to” department Apple has released, and I have installed, a new security update. Security updates and Apple seem an odd combination since no one, apparently, is exploiting all the old flaws (I’ll wager many Macs remain in the stone age update wise). Still Apple is being proactive and releasing updates so you have to give them a little credit. On the other hand people tend to regard updates with a little trepidation, there is always a chance the latest update will break some essential feature. Good news! If you’re like me and have a G5 Tower, mainly running Word and Final Cut, you won’t be able to tell the difference between the before and after. Get your update to avoid an exploit no one will ever take advantage of via Software Update or read what Apple has to say about it here!

  • You make a good point…due to so many people believing the “safer by design” BS, people don’t tend to update. The same is true of the linux universe…and the end result is no one updating and attacks getting through. There’s no such thing as a secure operating system, its just a case of how much hassle you want to put those attacking you through to get anywhere. Thats why I let the mutt guard the router, nowt getting past fido raspberry
