StarCraft Redux

by James R. Stoup May 21, 2007

Let me start by saying that I love StarCraft. It is one of my all-time favorite games. You have humans and aliens, cool weapons, great villains, and tanks that blow really big holes in your enemies. Yeah, StarCraft (and its expansion Brood War) totally and completely rocked. And now, finally, after almost 10 years StarCraft is coming back for round two. If you head over to Blizzard.com you can check out the trailer for StarCraft II. While you’re there check out the other movies, artwork, and info they have posted. I warn you though, it is impossible to watch the trailer and not experience an immediate need for this game. And did I mention they will be simultaneously shipping both the PC and Mac versions?

If you can’t wait until SCII comes out then you will just have to replay the old stuff to tide you over. But perhaps you don’t have a copy of OS 9 anymore, and then you’re screwed, right? WRONG! Head over to Apple’s StarCraft updates page and you will find an installer that will allow you to play StarCraft in OS X without Classic installed. It is a great way to get some extra mileage out of a truly classic game.

So rock on gamers and prepare to take the fight to the Zerg one more time.
