Call for Hacks

by Chris Seibold Apr 09, 2007

What is better than a good book brimming with OS X hacks? A good book overflowing with hacks for all things Apple. Turns out that is exactly what O’Reilly media is putting together. A book for hacking everything associated with Apple rather than just the standard OS X hacks deal. Apple TV hacks? They’ll be there. iPod hacks? But of course! iApp hacks? You know it. Anything to do with Apple is fair game in the upcoming The Big Book of Apple Hacks.

The aim of the book is modest enough: maximize your Apple experience with a collection of “can’t live without it, ” “never knew I could do it that way,; “you mean it is that easy?” collection of tips, tricks and hacks to make your Apple product easier to use, completely personalized and more powerful.

Thing is, everyone has a different idea of what makes (or would make) their Apple product better. We want to hear your hacks, your ideas for hacks and the interesting ways in which you use your Apple product. Fire off an email to the author and increase both your Apple Karma and your Apple geek cred.

All this talk of hacks leaving you wanting a fix right now? In that case, there is no better place to head than Hackszine. Those folks have hacks on everything. Be warned the site is very, very addictive (I check it out roughly three thousand times a day).

The best news about the book? We are leaning heavily on the Apple Matters staff and Apple writing doesn’t get any better than that! But we are also looking for writers and hackers out there. Have an idea that you think is book-worthy? Send it along.

  • Don’t give this book to Matthew B. wink Err… Better yet, make that a Hadley gift for having the fastest article to the top five (save Dev’s, I think).

Matt can use a fair amount of OSX/Unix tricks to get his system back to normal health.
