  • I take my iPod with me everywhere. I don't want to create playlists to anticipate what I want to play later in the day. I want my library with me. My whole library. Actually, I what I want is Any Particular Song, available. Which means every song.
  • I love large monitors, several times I have spent more on upgrading monitors than on upgrading computers. But I'm a fogey who just replaced my half-glasses with computer bifocals, and am learning to read by moving my head instead of my eyes. I'm going to tear apart my expensive desk to bring my 21" monitor down so I'm not always leaning my head back. And mouse pads are no longer sufficient. Drag and drop an item from my top left to the trash, and I have to lift up my mighty mouse twice. While it is amusing to list disadvantages to such large screens, I suspect Apple is aware of them and working on making things even easier.

  • A better solution than having a LAN backup would be to have a LAN clone. I haven't seen software to do this, but I want my backup to go to my old computer or my laptop. When my main computer goes down, I pull out my backup computer and work right away.

Backing Up Is So Hard to Do
  • A big problem with the .mac backup is that it is has no automatic way of not filling your iDisk. It needs a way to say "let me recover anything up to a month ago - every week do a full backup, purging the oldest week". Automatically.

  • I typo'd in calling it iPod - which is how I think of it, an iPod with phone capabilities. I'm not going to pay that kind of money for a phone that plays songs. Too much of a premium over the phone I have now. But if I start off with an iPod's price, the upgrade seems reasonable. 8^)

3 Reasons Why I Hate The iPhone
  • I never "got" Apple TV. I have to admit I'm an atypical viewer, I watch TV for some sports and to watch DvDs. I do have a few children's movies on my iPod, but when my grandkids are at my house, I play the DVD. I suppose getting around 10 minutes of ads in the front of the DVDs might be worth giving up the fidelity of the DVD, but not of a High-Res disk. What I'd pay for is a higher quality 5.1 music down load. Even if I can't get that on my iPod, my computer supports 5.1, and some games headphones support it as well. Get the quality recordings now and be set for the future. Speaking of which, I keep looking for how to upgrade my iStore purchases, but so far haven't seen a clue on how to do so.

    The Contradictions of Apple TV
  • Of course, ads don't need to show what phones do and how phones work. So they leave that as an afterthought, hooking us on the features.

You Want a Phone with that iPod?
  • I've always thought that it was an iPod first - and iPod users would be the ones willing to pay for its extra features. Provided they aren't contracted out to a different phone provider as I am. It could also be a Game Boy replacement. But it is the top-of-the-line iPod, it isn't the top phone, the top PDA, nor the top Game Boy. And it can't offer better teen communication without a market share first.

  • I haven't been tempted to buy an iPod case - except as a holder when my grandkids watch movies. But I am intrigued by one of your jokes above - that for 7.1 surround sound. I really wish that this was an available option for iTunes music (and all other music). As long as I have one way to play it that quality, I want to buy it that way.
