  • From my experience, and most of my friends, the file transfer in Adium is very buggy. I would say 60% of the time it just doesn't work, and another 10% of the time Adium will have to be restarted.

    Review: Adium 1.0
  • Did you ever think maybe it wasn't ready to be released until just now? Maybe the firmware is finally up to par? I have a Core Duo Macbook Pro, and I know if I had the Core 2 Duo and was told sometime after I bought it that it had a hidden feature that I could enable for $2 I would be extremely happy. Would it be better if they didn't add n support at all? I love Apple Matters, and by no means is it just here, but I'm sick of people complaining about everything apple does. EVERYTHING they do gets someone writing a story about how they did it wrong...when in reality there are reasons behind their actions that none of us know(besides them). I trust apple to make the right decisions for us users. But if you don't like it, there is a cheap PC with your name on it.

  • I think a touch screen iMac would be a much better idea. All day I think "this would be so much easier if my iMac was touch screen". From illustrator, photoshop, garageband...infact just all apps.

    Guidelines for the Aesthetically Impaired:
  • I do agree that for some people it really does not matter if the machine is a tad bit faster(not the case for MOST mac users), but if you plan on keeping the machine for a long time why wouldn't you want to get the fastest non-upgradeable parts at the time of the purchase? My moto is always get what you can't upgrade down the road...even if it means getting less ram or harddrive space at first. Good article, but I just don't agree with it.
  • I wish we could see the first design of the G4 iMac. I wonder if it was exactly the same as the G5 iMac?

  • I have a 2.16ghz macbook pro with a matte screen. If you are a designer you MUST get matte to know what the colors really look like. Also, I have very sensitive eyes so glossy was out of the question(can't stand reflections). Also a big difference no one else mentioned is that the 2.16ghz has twice as much video ram...128mb vs the 256mb. Personally, I would tell you spend more and get the 2.16ghz. I will tell you what I tell all my friends....buy now what you can't upgrade later(or is a bitch to upgrade later). You won't be able to upgrade the processor or video card so I say spend a bit more. I would also recommend getting the 7200rpm 100gb harddrive for another big speed boost. Whatever your choice definitely get the 7200rpm harddrive. Well I hope this helps you as I wish someone helped me choose when I was buying mine. Good luck and sorry to hear about the laptop being stolen.

Ask Apple Matters: MacBook Pro 2.0 or 2.16Ghz?
  • Ok, maybe I should have tried putting 2 different processors on dell.com before posting that comment. I retract the part about being able to use 2 different speeds. :)

Is the New Mac Pro Really Cheaper than a Dell?
  • You forget to mention that the Dell can have faster processors than the mac pro. You can go up to 3.73ghz and not only that, you can choose the speed of the second processor as well. Now that I am seeing this for the first time, I don't get why apple couldn't do that. There's no reason for them not to have the fastest processor as a BTO, but also being able to choose 2 different speeds would be a great addition.
