  • Selbs, I'd hate to think how much your therapy bills cost. Calista, you know I love you but are you kidding me? The iPod/iTunes combination is the best out there...by far. As for simply just a pmp, the iPod has the best most simplistic control system (aka the click wheel) that others can't replicate to a near half-decent standard. Bells and whistles don't make a better automobile - much the reason why Honda/Toyota are consistantly the top rated auto makers....not because they throw a million useless poor quality gadgets on their cars...

When Is It Okay to Insult iPod Users?
  • For that matter, we could have Mr. Jobs take over any Fortune 500 company and by the sheer might of his visionary prowness, do incredible things. Just imagine: 1) GM - actually product cars that have a quality to rival the best Japanese automakers - oh, and integrate much better with the iPod. New sports car: the Grand Mac. 2) GE - actually make and sell the world's first iPod killing MP3 player and brand it as the gPod. 3) Goldman Sachs - so he could do his own reviews about himself. The point is, he will stay at Apple. It is HIS company and his creation. Why leave that to head someone else's? Far more likely to see him move Apple into far more areas of people's lives: business, intelligent TV's, communications, iAppliance integration, gaming etc.. Apple has music/tv/movies covered, and other entertainment forms will also be close behind...

  • We don't name call, Ms. Neura Poopy-Pants! And I guess you are just as judgemental with your last statement. Let me re-iterate: Once and for all, we do not name call. I wish all you iGoofs would realize that.

  • I'm not defending ads. I am simply pointing out that Apple does not use other brands to attack. SanDisk actually puts links to anti-iPod sights. Sometimes the simplist logic eludes people. Funny, all your retorts prove me right! Thanks for making my point! :)

  • SanDisk ad is retarded. May get a lot of attention but until someone puts out a product better than the iPod, it's all fake crud. Basically their ad says "If you want to buy cheap crap with a terrible interface buy ours. We don't offer the combined software/hardware solution that everyone wants, but hey, just buy our crap will you!" Ironically, while they say "don't be an i sheep" they basically have cloned the Nano but changed the nice, easy-to-use click wheel with a gaudy, terrible square one. Otherwise, they have gone for the same size/shape. Basically, the propagandists have created an: iCloned Sheep Baaaaaaaaa baaaaaa baaaaaaaa! They should have just called the model "Dolly"

  • Nice. Obviously you are too pathetic to make a decent point. Baaaaaaaaa! It's one thing to make generalizations. It's another to directly attack another brand maliciously because your products suck, your marketshare is small, you can't figure out that the solution to the problem is a combination of hardware/software, not just one. You make my point. You reference iPod directly. And you reference PC (which you refer to as MS Windows). Apple references PC - this could be linux, windows, sun, whatever. SanDisk references iPod directly. Nice try lemming.

  • Apple goes after the generic PC world. They don't specifically flog others on their website. SanDisk references iPod directly. Apple should sue their friggin' asses off. Bad on you for not keeping it real. The two comments above really illustrate iSheep.

  • Stupid reasoning. Dual Boot increases margin share far faster. As market share increases so will demand/appeal that programs be made natively for the Mac. People will want to use OS X if at all possible. Duh.

    Take the No Windows-Booting Pledge
  • Article Insanely Flawed! The direct proportion of marketshare of the Mac will determine Mac applications ported or developed in Mac OS X. Second, Leopard is going to take this another step and offer virtualization so you can run Win apps directely in Mac OS X (much like OS9 Classic). This will rock the business world as now you can have a stable virus free Mail/Browser experience but still use MSIE for business intelligence or other specific apps where MS is needed (one of my main problems with using my Mac in a Windows world). Also, this eliminates the argument - "Macs can't play games". I know 5 people who will now buy a Mac. This will allow Apple to now create a gaming machine - that is, one targeted under the PowerPC but above the CoreDuo market. This will create downward pressure on Mac pricing to be more competitive with PCs, but because of volume sales increasing, Apple's profitibility will continue to grow. Will allow people to try and play with not only the OS but also to test the remote with Front Row, use iMovie/iPhoto/iDVD, and feel more secure with using mail and Safari. This is gonna kick some serious booty.

    Apple in 2006
  • Konfabulator ripped off Apple. Hypercard was the precursor to HTML so then everything and anything on the net was taken from Apple. Also, MS ripped off Thomas Crapper. Not sure how but are associated with $hit! In ancient Rome, scribes wrote on papyrus with a thin metal rod called a stylus, which left a light but readable mark. Other early styluses were made of lead. Today we still call the core of a pencil the "lead" even though it is made from nontoxic graphite. Therefore, there are a few ripoffs here: a) Palm copying the stylus. Bastards! b) Xerox using paper. How dare they! c) Adobe for using the pencil image for one of their icons in Photoshop. Just cheap! d) Ok this isn't really a point but I mean hey, pencils aren't made out of lead?!! Who has ever heard of "graphite" poisoning. I've been lied to all my life. I'm pissed! BTW, the valium is still working!

    Apple in 2006
  • For the record I am on valium.... As far as OS components go, Windows has ripped off Mac since Mac licensed its OS to Microsoft a ways back.... Microsoft being the first Mac OS licensee. That was done to require MS to make and keep updated MS Word and Excel. A good point was made that MS made the gui marketable. Very true. Apple have done things terribly wrong in the past. However, Apple has righted the ship and is one of the best media/computer companies on the planet...well ok, the best. IMHO, I think Apple will come out with their own technology that will work with Linux/Windows native speed emulation much like OS 9 Classic works with OS X. It will seem like the apps are transparent (opening like any other OS X app) with the other operating system running in the background (not requiring a window). If Apple does this, there is no reason why they won't make massive gains in market share. Any windows app can run. Running those apps can't adversely affect the Mac OS. There will be no compatibility issues with stuff like client side installs to view MS Business Intelligence reports, etc.. It will just work. And that my friends, is what it is going to be all about. Take the power back into Apple's hands - not relying on MS to Intel-ize Virtual PC. As for Adobe, and Mac Intel version of their CS will be out by the end of the year. Why? Because a deal was struck with Apple to do this or Apple would come out with a superior competitor much like they did with Final Cut Pro which sunk the sales of Director. Cheers

  • Hmmmmmmm maybe this will spawn rumors again of Apple buying TiVo...
  • They haven't taken a blow. You just can't see the big picture. Maybe most people can't and I am one of the lucky ones. The hype forms have gone nuts. Expectations are through the roof. This simply lowers expectations for the next big event and increases the WOW factor.
